  • Crypto and stock orders still execute on partner platforms.
  • Kraken and Interactive Brokers confirmed U.S. Cashtag integrations.

X expanded its Cashtag trading feature in the U.S. on Sept. 22, linking users directly to crypto exchanges and stock brokers from market posts. The integration connects Cashtags with Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, Interactive Brokers and Moomoo, while trades still execute on partner platforms.

X News Puts Cashtag Trading Back in Focus

X Business promoted its Cashtag Partners program with the phrase “timeline. ticker. trade.” The company named Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, Interactive Brokers and Moomoo among participating platforms.

The promotion followed the U.S. rollout announced by partners during Sept. 15 and Sept. 16. Interactive Brokers said its integration became available to U.S.-based investors on Sept. 15.

Kraken separately said it joined as an official U.S. launch partner. The exchange said users could tap supported tickers and reach Kraken through a Trade button.

Moomoo also announced its participation on Sept. 15. Its statement described Cashtags as hubs for stocks, exchange-traded funds and cryptocurrencies.

That timeline means the Sept. 22 X news cycle reflected wider promotion of an existing rollout. It did not mark the first documented activation of the program.

X News Shows How Crypto and Stock Trading Works

X defines a cashtag as a ticker symbol preceded by a U.S. dollar sign. Users traditionally tapped those symbols to find posts mentioning the same ticker.

The newer format added market information and a trading handoff. Interactive Brokers said users could search tickers such as $AAPL or $BTC on X.

Its integration displayed live price charts, market data and related market commentary. Users could then tap Trade and select Interactive Brokers for further research or execution.

Kraken described a similar process for crypto. The exchange said a supported ticker could route a user directly to Kraken. Users then completed the transaction on Kraken’s platform.

The distinction affects how the feature should be described. X provided discovery, market information and routing. Partners handled account access and order execution.

That setup differs from native trading inside X itself. Users still relied on the selected broker or exchange for transactions.

The program also linked social discussion with account infrastructure already operated by each partner. Customer identity checks and account controls therefore remained with trading firms. The model separated content discovery from regulated trade execution.

Partner Network Connects Crypto With Traditional Stocks

The initial partner list mixed crypto exchanges with multi-asset brokers. Kraken and Coinbase serve digital-asset traders. Interactive Brokers and Moomoo also cover traditional securities.

Interactive Brokers said its Cashtag connection covered conversations about stocks and crypto. Clients could continue from X into brokerage accounts for research or trading.

Moomoo said users could move from an X Cashtag to its platform within several clicks. Its statement also referenced stocks, exchange-traded funds and cryptocurrencies.

The structure gave X one interface for different asset classes without operating underlying trading venues. It also placed crypto tickers beside conventional stock symbols inside the same discovery flow.

For trading platforms, the integration created another customer-acquisition route. However, eligibility, supported products and execution rules remained controlled by each provider.

Interactive Brokers explicitly limited its announced feature to U.S.-based investors. Kraken also described its Cashtag partnership as a U.S. launch.

X News Leaves Execution With Brokerage Partners

The current structure keeps trading responsibilities outside X. That matters when users interpret claims that trades occur “directly from the timeline.”

A timeline Cashtag can begin the transaction path. However, the order does not settle inside an X brokerage system.

The participating provider completes the transaction after the user follows the handoff. Interactive Brokers explicitly described X as the route into its brokerage platform.

X’s glossary still describes cashtags primarily as ticker-linked discovery tools. The partner program layered brokerage access onto that existing function.

The next verifiable milestone will be any formal expansion beyond U.S. users or the five named partners. X had not announced a broader geographic rollout in its latest promotion.
